The singer is working on the feature with actor and director Ben Stiller, reports WENN.
Sir Elton wrote on his GQ blog: "It’s about a guy on Broadway who is gay, has HIV and AIDS, and has to go back and face his wife and his kids that he left.
"The premise doesn’t sound funny, but it is. All right?"
The singer, who is reportedly working on a Christmas single with The Killers, already scored the Broadway production of The Lion King and the 2005 stage adaptation of Billy Elliot.
Both drew sell-out crowds, however Sir Elton revealed he isn't a great fan of the musical genre. "I’m quite fussy about it. I don’t really like them unless I’m involved in them, for some reason," he wrote.
