The actor was due to begin making A Couple Of Dicks with James Gandolfini by April this year, and had a clause in his contract which meant he would be paid $6 million (£3.5m) whether it was made or not.
Williams was told in March that the film had been scrapped, but has claimed not to have received any money from Gold Circle Films - the production firm's parent company.
The actor is now seeking the payment, as well costs and other damages, and has asked for a jury trial.
