Josh Brolin has admitted that doubts about his ability to portray George Bush encouraged him to take on the lead role in Oliver Stone's W.

Speaking to DS at the European premiere of W., the No Country For Old Men star confessed that his lack of physical resemblance to Bush was a "big motivator".

"I love the reaction of everybody," he commented. "They're like, 'What? Him? Why?' That's always a big motivator for me.

"It was a great challenge, it covers a lot of his life. It was something that I really felt that I wanted to live up to."

W. opens in UK cinemas on November 7.
