Firth to appear in 'A Single Man'

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode are to appear in Tom Ford's A Single Man.

The film is adapted from Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel about a British university professor who has just lost his same-sex partner of 16 years.

Firth will play the professor, but Moore and Goode's roles have not been confirmed.

Ford, a former fashion designer and ex-Gucci creative director, makes his directorial debut with the project. It will begin shooting in November.
