Universal has secured the movie rights to forthcoming Viper Comics graphic novel Villains.
The comic, by Adam Cogan and Ryan Cody, ignores costumed heroes to focus on antagonistic supervillains.
The movie will show how an unsuccessful young man finds renewed purpose when he meets a Svengali-like villain who becomes his mentor, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Matt Jennison and Brent Strickland, who are currently working on Warner Bros's long-awaited Wonder Woman project, will pen the Villains adaptation.
