Chadha signs to direct 'Afterlife'
Published Thursday, Nov 6 2008, 03:32 GMT | By Simon Reynolds

The story centres on a British-Asian mother whose insistence on marrying off her daughter leads to her becoming a serial killer.
Chadha, who recently directed Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, told Variety: "It's a comic caper very much in the tradition of classic Ealing comedies. It's a return for me to the characters and setting of Bend It Like Beckham but in a different genre, namely horror, although I would say that the gore will be easy on the eye."
The director also likened the movie to My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Shaun Of The Dead.
The $10 million-budgeted feature will begin shooting in the UK next February.
