Rings is King at the BAFTAs
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King triumphed at the BAFTAs tonight, winning a total of five awards in all.

The final film in the trilogy took gongs in categories including Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Adapted Screenplay and the Orange audience award for best film of the year. The movie also scooped the prestigious Best Picture title.

Peter Jackson missed out on a nod for Best Director, which instead went to Master and Commander's Peter Weir.

Depite having the most nominations - thirteen in all - Cold Mountain could only muster two victories; in addition to Best Music, Renee Zellweger was named Best Supporting Actress.

The other success story of the night was Russell Crowe's Master and Commander, picking up four awards; in addition to Best Director won in the technical categories for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Sound.

Lost in Translation also fared well with Best Actor and Best Actress going to Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson respectively.

Success at tonight's ceremony will be seen as a good indicator of possible success at the next big awards ceremony - the Oscars - on February 29.
