The movie, which has been tentatively titled American Tragic, stars Ryan O'Nan as the young serviceman as he leaves his wife (Ferrera), mother (Melissa Leo), and sister (June Diane Raphael) to travel America in search of redemption.
Ferrera will executive produce the Maya Entertainment project, which will be directed by Ryan Piers Williams, claims The Hollywood Reporter.
Filming is scheduled to begin in February in New Mexico.
