The Max Payne actor, who picked up an Oscar nomination for his turn as foul-mouthed cop Dignam in Martin Scorsese's crime drama, told Digital Spy that the Hollywood heavyweights have been mentioned as potential stars for a follow-up.
"They were talking about bringing in a couple of new guys like De Niro, maybe Brad Pitt or someone like that playing the bad guy, a corrupt politician or something," he said. "Then, like the Hong Kong [Infernal Affairs] trilogy that the movie is based on, come back and do a prequel and bring everyone else back who was in the first."
Wahlberg insisted that he would only return for a sequel "if we can make it better than the first and people are willing to see it".
