Avi Lerner said he recently asked the California governor about a role in the movie, offering him $1 million (£675,000) for a one-day cameo. Although the Terminator star did not accept the offer, Lerner said he is still holding out hope.
"[Schwarzenegger] said: 'Wait two years for me. I'll be coming back.' But I can't wait that long. I told him we could even shoot the scene in Sacramento," Lerner told the LA Times.
"He was smiling, but he didn't say yes. Maybe he can't take the money while he's still governor. That's OK, if he can't take the money, I'd donate it to a charity or give it to a school that needs the money."
He added: "Don't worry, I'll approach him again. I don't give up that easily."
Brett Ratner was recently reported to be in the final stages of talks to direct the movie.
