Jake Gyllenhaal was almost as cast as the new Batman instead of British actor Christian Bale.
Speaking to Ain't it Cool News, screenwriter David Goyer revealed that they were torn on who to pick for the lead in Batman: Insurrection, which begins filming next month.
"We were torn between Bale and Jake Gyllenhaal, because we wanted to go in a different direction," said Goyer, adding that eventually Bale won him over: "I think Bale at the end... I loved Jake, but Bale just seemed the right way."
