The DC Comics anti-hero, created by John Albano and Tony DeZuniga, is an American Civil War veteran with scars covering the right side of his face.
Crank directors Neveldine and Taylor wrote the script, but chose to walk out on the project due to "creative differences", says Variety.
The movie is scheduled to begin filming next year and Warner Bros is seeking a new helmer to keep Brolin attached in the lead role.
