Scott's latest movie Body Of Lies, which follows two CIA agents attempting to flush out a terrorist leader in Jordan, is the latest political drama to underperform at the box office.
The British filmmaker suggested that public anger towards the war was responsible for the numerous flops, which have included In The Valley Of Elah, Lions For Lambs and Rendition.
"Only a certain percent of people want to know what's going on in the Middle East - are you f**king kidding?" he said.
"I think they're angry because, like all the families do, they want to know why is my son going to war when we shouldn't even be in there. Obviously there's all kinds of itineraries involved in that, notwithstanding something to do with that black stuff that comes over to America."
