The tape was brought forward by journalist Miranda Ward and features the former Beatle discussing Eastern mysticism, politics and drugs. Film director David Lambert has heard the interview and revealed that Scorsese is looking to base a movie on it.
"At the moment there's a lot of interest in that. I believe Martin Scorsese, who did the Rolling Stones film, is looking to do a 90-minute film on George Harrison," he told BBC 6 Music.
"There is interest from the Scorsese camp for this interview."
Lambert also disclosed that the content of the tape is "pretty controversial".
