Paul Schrader will write and direct Bollywood action movie Extreme City, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Schrader, who penned Taxi Driver and Raging Bull for Martin Scorsese, said that his decision to migrate to Bollywood was down to a "barren" US film market.
He said: "I've been getting indie movies made for 20 years. But I take a good look around and what I see is a barren, barren place - in terms of the financial community, in terms of audiences, in terms of distribution. It's cold out there."
Extreme City revolves around an American man who arrives in India to help solve a kidnapping plot for his father-in-law. He soon finds himself embroiled in the world of gangsters. The film will include musical numbers and be spoken in English and Hindi.
