Vanguard Films has purchased the rights to cult comic book series Emo Boy.
Kyle Newman will direct the project, while the comic's creator Stephen Edmond is penning the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original comic, which is published by Slave Labour Graphics, is a satirical take on a "self-dramatising young man", who has emotions so powerful that he has "emo powers".
Music will apparently play a key role in the movie, which is being billed as similar in tone to Zoolander and Napoleon Dynamite.
Newman's credits include forthcoming Star Wars comedy Fanboys, which focuses on the sci-fi franchise's obsessive followers.
