Ben Affleck has expressed an interest in directing true-life drama Arizona, says Variety.

The Miramax film concerns the death of Arizona Republic investigative reporter Don Bolles in 1976. Bolles was killed by a car bomb while looking into cases of organised crime running state government.

His work was completed by journalists at the IRE (Investigative Reporters and Editors) group, which formed shortly after his death.

Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard) has been hired to write the screenplay.

Affleck's directorial debut Gone Baby Gone was released in the UK earlier this year.
