Kidman said she was shocked after listening to the actor rehearsing for upcoming musical movie Nine.
"Daniel has never done a musical before, but he's an extraordinary actor," she is quoted as saying. "I think people will be astounded by how good he is."
The actress joins Sophia Lauren, Kate Hudson, Marion Cotillard, Dame Judi Dench and Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie in the the movie, currently being filmed in London.
"It's just an amazing group of women, and we all get on so well," she added.
Nine, based on the Broadway musical of the same name, will reach screens in December 2009.
