Dimension Films has confirmed that Rob Zombie will write and direct H2, the sequel to 2007's horror remake Halloween.
Zombie, who also directed last year's reinvention of the John Carpenter classic, is hoping that the new movie will be ready for release by October 2009.
"I was so burned out. But I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," he told Variety. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called Halloween.
"If you come out November 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."
H2 will pick up where the first film left off, following Laurie Strode's attempts to avoid the attentions of her murderous brother Michael Myers.
Filming will start in March. It has not yet been announced whether the original cast will be returning.
