Will Smith has admitted that he may not yet be "man enough" to play the part of Nelson Mandela in a movie.

The actor is not confident that he has the skills to portray the former South African President.

Smith added that he is also keen to take the role of soul singer Marvin Gaye in a film.

"I'm not certain I'm actor enough yet. I love both of those, and I need to make sure I'm man enough," he told USA Today.

The star admitted that he is keen to stick to roles that could "push" his acting ability to another level.

"I have to challenge myself and push myself. My only job is to make sure I don't leave anything on the table, that I maximize what a young dude from Philadelphia can do in the world of cinema. There's no telling what I can create at this point."

Smith recently revealed that making his new film Seven Pounds had made him take greater control over his own destiny.
