Eddie Murphy and Shia LaBeouf have reportedly signed up for roles in the sequel to The Dark Knight.

Beverly Hills Cop star Murphy has been tipped to play the Riddler, despite speculation that Johnny Depp would take on the role made famous by Jim Carrey in 1995's Batman Forever.

"Eddie's a fantastic addition," an insider told The Sun. "Everyone's excited to see what he does as the Riddler."

Transformers actor LaBeouf has been linked with the part of Robin, the Caped Crusader's sidekick.

The sequel is being produced under the working title of Gotham and has been slated for a 2010 release date.

Recently it was rumoured that The Constant Gardener star Rachel Weisz was in contention to play Catwoman.
