New 'Judge Dredd' movie greenlit

Rebellion, which owns the rights to the character, has announced that the film will begin production in 2009.
Jason Kingsley, Rebellion's CEO and creative director, said: "We can't give away too many details at this point, but we're looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen."
The movie will be produced in association with 2000 AD, the sci-fi anthology where Judge Dredd first appeared, and DNA Films, which produced Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later.
No details of cast or crew have been revealed yet.
Judge Dredd is one of Britain's most popular comic book characters, having first appeared in 1977. His comic strip details his adventures as a law enforcement officer in a futuristic, violent society.
A previous film adaptation, starring Sylvester Stallone, was released in 1995.
