'Fight Club' musical deemed 'too expensive'

The filmmaker told MTV that he has tried to recruit a high-profile director and producer for the project but has found the endeavour too costly.
He explained: "It's too expensive. I really don't know [if the musical will happen]. I've talked to [director] Julie Taymor and she sort of talked me down. I talked to [producer] Scott Rudin about it. I wanted to get him involved. He just laughed."
Fincher said of his ideas for the stage version: "I saw it as being like a rock show - a lot of projection, a lot of computer-generated imagery, a lot of conveyor belts. It was really cinematic but really twisted."
