Sherwood Schwartz, creator of the original series, has signed on to adapt the show for the big screen, according to TV Guide.
"[It] just happened in the last 48 hours," the 92-year-old said. "I can't take this much excitement at my age."
The show, which ran from 1964 to 1967, chronicled the comic adventures of seven castaways from the S.S. Minnow who are shipwrecked on an uninhabited island.
Schwartz reportedly wants Juno star Michael Cera to play the titular Gilligan and Beyoncé to portray movie star Ginger Grant.
No production dates or casting have yet been confirmed.
