The slapstick comedian's latest vehicle holds off competition from Adam Sandler and Russell Brand's family fantasy Bedtime Stories, which remains at two.
Elsewhere, Frank Miller's action drama The Spirit enters at six, while Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes's romance The Reader debuts at seven.
Steven Soderbergh's biopic of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara is the only other new entry at nine.
