The Story Of Bonnie And Clyde will focus on the true story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, who were infamous criminals during the Great Depression.
The former Lizzie McGuire star will reportedly take on the role of Bonnie, with Tonya S. Holly directing.
It's A Boy/Girl Thing star Kevin Zegers, Sling Blade's Natalie Canerday and Frost/Nixon actor Rance Howard will co-star.
Production is scheduled to begin in April.
The gangsters were originally immortalised in the Oscar-winning 1967 film Bonnie And Clyde, which starred Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
