The comedy beat Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd's Role Models, which entered at two. Last week's number one, Jim Carrey's Yes Man, falls to third.
Elsewhere, Slumdog Millionaire climbs to fifth on the back of its Golden Globes success, while family comedy Hotel For Dogs charts at eight.
