Silver, whose credits include the Lethal Weapon and Matrix series, has agreed a six-figure deal to pick up newcomer Jonathan Herman's script, reports Variety.
The movie will follow a criminal serving a five-year prison term for his involvement in a failed heist. He is hired by an FBI agent to prevent his protégé from pulling off another robbery.
Silver is also working on action movie Fully Automatic and a reworking of He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe.
