According to Hollywood Elsewhere, Kushner revealed at a Harvard discussion on the 16th US President that Paramount will make a decision on the film this week and, should it receive a greenlight, it will be completed and ready for release by the end of the year.
Kushner said that his script "covers two months of his life" and the 13th Amendment - the abolition of slavery and involuntary servitude - plays a significant part in the story.
Liam Neeson is attached to play Lincoln, who was assassinated on April 15, 1865, while Sally Field has been rumoured for the role of First Lady Mary and Harrison Ford as Vice President and eventual White House successor Andrew Johnson.
