Madonna seeks Queen's 'OK' for film role

The singer is said to want to play the role because she sees similarities between herself and the American mistress to the former Prince Of Wales.
The 50-year-old has researched the part thoroughly and has her heart set on playing Simpson, whose affair with King Edward VIII caused him to abdicate the thrown in 1936, reports the Daily Mail.
Although Madonna apparently put plans to make the film on hold during her divorce, she is still reported to be passionate about the project.
