Winslet: 'I don't care about critics'

Kate Winslet has insisted that she is unconcerned by criticism of her emotional awards speeches.

The Oscar-winning actress told MTV News that she was unfazed by the negative reaction in the British media following her double Golden Globes victory.

Winslet said: "I really don't care and quite frankly, I'm sad that my country can't be pleased with the successes of their own kind, as the US does."

Talking about last night's Academy Awards, she told The Daily Telegraph: "I got through it, I didn't blub, I remembered everybody and hopefully the Brits won't be able to be mean to me."

The Revolutionary Road star added that she would be getting "massively drunk" to celebrate her win.

Winslet picked up the best actress prize for her part in The Reader, her first Academy Award success after five past nominations.
