Stewart: 'Twilight' was great for my career

Twilight star Kristen Stewart has admitted that the success of the vampire romance has done wonders for her career.

The actress, who played Bella Swan in the movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel, told Entertainment Tonight that she is now offered a wider choice of roles.

"It's been good for me, it's only been good," she said. "It really facilitates the work that I love. It makes it much easier. I don't have to fight to get into a movie that I really want to. It's not a fight anymore, and it was."

Discussing the forthcoming sequel New Moon, she said: "It's a lot different from the first... [Bella's] in a place where she has to step up and kind of become more mature... It's all very epic and convoluted."

Earlier this week, Stewart was reported to have claimed that she would find it "easy" to walk away from the vampire franchise.

Twilight has grossed $367 million at the worldwide box office since its release last year.
