Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle have been cast as Merry Men in Russell Crowe's Robin Hood, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Grimes will play Hood's cousin Will Scarlet, Durand the towering Little John and Doyle, lead singer of Canadian band Great Big Sea, the lute-playing minstrel Alan a Dayle.

The Universal movie will show the origins of the Nottingham outlaw (Crowe) and his first meeting with Maid Marian (Cate Blanchett). Ridley Scott is directing from Brian Helgeland's script.

Robin Hood is scheduled to begin filming in the UK next month.
