Based on consumer electronics pioneer Eddie Antar, it will be scripted by 21's Peter Steinfeld.
Antar launched the chain Crazy Eddie in 1971, with his famous TV adverts helping the company expand to 43 stores. However, he was charged with fraud after caught inflating stock value and skimming money.company. He was convicted in 1997, serving a two-year prison term.
"[Antar] started as a guy who loved making deals more than money," said DeVito, who claimed the movie would draw parallels with the recent crisis on Wall Street.
"He lived an outrageously spectacular life and suffered an outrageously spectacular fall," added Steinfeld.
