MGM and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo have teamed up for a remake of Roger Corman's X: The Man With The X-Ray Eyes, reports Variety.

The 1963 original centred on a scientist who is nearing a breakthrough in X-ray vision technology. After his funding is pulled, he continues experimenting on himself only to lose control of his powers.

Fresnadillo, who last directed 28 Weeks Later, is currently searching for a writer to pen the X remake.

Corman was a prolific B-movie director in the '50s and '60s, who tutored filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard early in their careers. His movies include Little Shop Of Horrors, The Raven and Death Race 2000.
