Earlier reports had suggested that Rourke had pulled out of the film because of a wage dispute, but he has now signed up with ICM after his agent improved on the original deal, Deadline Hollywood Daily reports.
It had previously been reported that Emily Blunt would not reprise her role in the sequel, with her Black Widow role being taken by Scarlett Johansson.
An insider said: "It's as bad as a deal that I've heard. It's lowball money. And it ties her to countless movies, including that ensemble The Avengers, which is what makes this brutal for a lot of actors."
