Protesters brought filming of a live-action version of Mulan to a halt this week amid allegations that they were not paid for an earlier shoot.
The project, directed by Jingle Ma, shut down for two days after locals in Yixian blocked cameras every time they started rolling, says China Film.
Residents in the Hebei Province town claimed that producers had failed to pay their debts from their earlier work in the area.
The traditional Chinese tale, which became popular in the 1998 Disney animation of the same name, tells of a young woman who pretends to be a man in order to join the army and bring honour to her family.
