'Watchmen' writer to direct 'Slaughter'

Watchmen writer David Hayter will make his directorial debut with Slaughter's Road, reports Variety.

Hayter penned the script, a werewolf thriller, which Thomas Dekker (Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Ray Stevenson (Rome) are circling to star.

The movie will come from Dark Hero Studios, a company Hayter formed with Benedict Carver to produce media with a genre slant.

Carver said: "David will create, write and direct movies and TV series for the company, but he'll also be a magnet for other writers and directors to work with us."

Hayter is also developing Demonology with Dark Hero, based on his own experience of going to school in Japan.

"It's about an American kid who goes to one of these schools in Belgium, but it brings my own horrible experiences of school to life," he said.
