Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker was originally tapped to play the part, but he was forced to walk away when a month-long shooting delay interfered with his other commitments, Ain't It Cool News reports.
The Expendables is written and directed by Stallone. He also stars in the film along with Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and Jet Li.
