Mary J. Blige cast in Perry's 'Bad'

Mary J. Blige has joined the cast of Tyler Perry's new movie I Can Do Bad All By Myself.

The nine-time Grammy winner will star alongside Taraji P. Henson in the feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Lionsgate production is scheduled for release on September 11.

I Can Do Bad is based on one of Perry's early plays. Blige will apparently play a nightclub manager and singer in the film.

She is also currently working on a new studio album, which is expected to be released later this year.
