Speaking to DS, the actor blamed co-star Ricky Gervais for sabotaging takes by failing to keep a straight face during filming.
"Very funny man, very good. Does a wonderful job in the movie, he's really great in it," he said of Gervais. "We had many times where I [thought] 'unbelievable'. [Scenes are] on the cutting room floor because he can't help himself.
"He just laughs, he's very in the moment. We had a great time making that movie, it was a lot of fun in New York."
Kinnear's new film Flash Of Genius, which sees him portray a man battling the Ford Motor Company in a lengthy court case, is out in cinemas now.
