Joel and Ethan Coen are reportedly planning to film a remake of classic western True Grit.

The brothers are said to be following the source novel from Charles Portis more closely than the original Henry Hathaway movie, which won John Wayne his first and only Oscar for best actor in 1969.

True Grit will be the next film made by the Coen brothers ahead of the previously announced adaptation of The Yiddish Policeman's Union.

Both films will be produced by No Country For Old Men veteran Scott Rudin.
