Bryan Singer and Radical Publishing have signed a deal with New Regency to turn comic book Freedom Formula: Ghost Of The Wasteland into a movie.

First announced last summer, the Mike Finch-scripted adaptation centres on a genetically engineered hero who pilots a high-tech battle suit that has made fighter jets obsolete.

20th Century Fox has agreed to distribute the movie, with Singer and Radical's Barry Levine producing.

"Mike Finch came up with an incredible take that goes deeper into the mythology of the source material," Levine told Variety.

Singer recently expressed an interest in directing Mark Wahlberg's vigilante thriller The Prisoners.
