Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman have been cast as Greek gods in fantasy-adventure Percy Jackson, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Brosnan's GoldenEye co-star Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakaredes are also new additions to the Chris Columbus-helmed movie.

The script, by Columbus and Craig Titley, is adapted from Rick Riordan's children's book The Lightning Thief. It involves Percy, the half-human son of Poseidon who attempts to prevent a war erupting between the gods in present-day America.

Brosnan (Chiron), Thurman (Medusa), Bean (Zeus), McKidd (Poseidon) and Kanakaredes (Athena) will join teen actors Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson in the cast. Columbus is still searching for actors to play Aries, Hades and Persephone.

Studio Fox 2000 is hoping to launch a franchise with Percy Jackson. Riordan's fifth book in the series, The Last Olympian, is due in May.
