Arterton cast as 'Titans' goddess

Gemma Arterton will portray demi-goddess Io in the Clash Of The Titans remake.

The Quantum Of Solace actress, who picked up the best newcomer prize at last night's Empire Awards, described the role as "the coolest part".

"Io's not in the original film," she told Empire. "Perseus falls in love with her... It's a really great part."

Arterton added that the Warner Bros remake will shift focus on to the character of Perseus, to be played by Sam Worthington.

"It's much more about Perseus's mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that. So it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that," she said.
