The re-imagining of Lewis Carroll's fantasy classic, which combines live-action and motion capture footage, will arrive in conventional cinemas and IMAX screens on March 5, 2010.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group president Mark Zoradi said of the release: "This is going to be an eye-popping cinematic experience as Tim takes moviegoers down the rabbit hole and into the dimensional world filled with incredible characters, sly humour and wild adventures."
Among Burton's all-star cast are Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and newcomer Mia Wasikowska as Alice.
