Quentin Tarantino has accepted an offer to screen Inglourious Basterds in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to Variety, the director's World War II drama will have its world premiere during the prestigious French film festival. Tarantino previously won the Palme d'Or prize at Cannes for Pulp Fiction in 1994.

Inglourious Basterds, which stars Brad Pitt, Mike Myers and Diane Kruger, follows a group of Jewish-American soldiers who embark on a revenge mission in Nazi-occupied France.

The full Cannes lineup will be unveiled on April 23, with the festival running from May 13- 24. Inglourious Basterds is scheduled for release in the UK on August 21.
