The actress, who plays Bella Swan in the vampire saga, told USA Today that she was often intimidated by gangs of teenage girls who had a crush on her co-star Robert Pattinson.
"More than three girls of that certain age - run away! Girls are scary. Large groups of girls scare the [crap] out of me."
She joked: "They covet him. I think half of them are so jealous that they hate me."
Stewart, who is dating actor Michael Angarano, added that she was frustrated by the constant rumours of a romance with Pattinson, saying: "It doesn't make my relationship harder. It's not like, 'Maybe I should be with [him] to make them happy and it'll make me more popular!'...But, dude, it sucks."
Earlier this month, the actress was forced to clarify comments that she made about fans of the vampire romance, after calling them "f**king psychotic" in an interview.
