Miley Cyrus to focus on movies

Miley Cyrus has confirmed that she is likely to put her music career on hold in favour of movies.

The Disney star is currently promoting the release of Hannah Montana: The Movie, the first big-screen adventure featuring her hit sitcom character.

"I think after people see the movie, they'll see it's really what I love," Cyrus told People. "It's my main passion."

Describing the project as "a good first step" to being taken seriously as an actress, she added: "It's allowing the fans to continue to stay with me and not go too far too soon, but also be able to do something that I really love, and that's film."

Cyrus's latest movie project is The Last Song, which follows a rebellious teenager who reunites with her estranged father on a summer break.

Discussing the project, she explained: "Right now I'm working on a movie with Nicholas Sparks, which is what I want to continue to do - to do drama."
