The GMTV presenter was filming a documentary about the making of the latest instalment in the franchise when he was asked if he wanted to play a part.
ITN reports the 35-year-old as saying: "I've done documentaries for the last three films and got to know everybody really well, and they finally said 'Come on and give it a go'. I was lucky enough to get a part in one of the scenes. I'm a wizarding parent in a joke shop."
The fifth instalment is scheduled for release this July, while Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows has been split into two parts, due out in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
